Biophilia is an emerging field that recognizes humans psychological need to be around life and life-like processes. Environments that are cold, sterile and devoid of life diminish our experience, mood, happiness and overall quality of life.
Biophilia design recognizes the need and importance of creating spaces exterior and interior that nurtures the innate human to nature connection.
This would require projects to incorporate requirements involving historical, cultural and ecological studies to inform biophilic elements and creating a biophilic framework to ensure that the project implements these designs provide opportunities for human-nature interactions as required by international norms. En3’s experience working on some of these cutting edge concepts with WELL Building Institute and USGBC shall assist projects in devising a biophilic plan, incorporating various biophilic requirements into designs, quantifying them and qualitatively reporting how these features can have a huge impact on the quality of life and space for all occupants.
